Goals

Hello everyone!  Well, shame on me.  I say I'm going to do something, then BAM!  I get hit with a lot of random life things that get in the way.

Anyway...

Can we talk about goals for a second?  I always think I have a very long list of items that I want to take care of and clear an understanding of what it takes to get there.

Once I take a step back and really take a look at the items that need to be done, I never set plans into place to get them checked off of my very long list of items that need to be done.

Take for instance my Etsy Shop.  I have a running goal of course increasing sales.  Of course the first thing I thought of in order to accomplish this, is to increase the amount of items in my shop.

Currently, I have 57 items.  I would LOVE to have 100 items at all times in my shop.  I once read for every 100 views you should receive a sale.  So... the more items to look at, the more likely you are to get a sale.  Right?  Does that make sense?

Well, how do I get to that 100 item mark?  Make stuff...  That would be the best way right?

So... Here is the plan.

  1. Set a deadline.
    1. I'm going to say by the of July, I would like to have at least 100 items in my shop.
  2. Set a process plan.
    1. In order to have 100 total in my shop by the end of July, I would need to make roughly 2.5 items a week.
  3. I need o make sure I have enough supplies to finish this project.
  4. I need to not watch YouTube beauty videos at night and instead get busy crafting.

Seems simple right?  I should be able to do this!

Speaking of beauty videos...

I felt like I was doing my makeup the same way I had always done it and felt I needed a new mature look and started doing some research.

Did you all know that there was such a thing as a Beauty Guru that posts things on You Tube causing impressional young women to go out and spend all of their fabric money on Makeup?

Well...  Incase you didn't know...  Here are some of my favorites!

I even had to make a new makeup bag to throw all of my new goodies in!

Plus...  Who doesn't love Chevron?

Until next time!

New Year... New blog

Well…

Here I am again.  Making excuses for not blogging.  I can say it’s because I am so busy, I forgot, lack of interesting topics and the list could go on.

Really, I can always make time when I want to.  I do for all the things I love.  I don’t forget…  I actually think about blogging a lot.  I think about topics and how I wish I was better at it.

I have been in a very reflective mood lately (whole post on this is to coming soon…).

The more I thought about how the whole blog process has made me approach how I handle posts differently.

This is supposed to be a little bit of me in the big world of the internet.  Does it really reflect me?  Does it show who I am and what I do?  Sure it shows my love of crafts, sewing and crochet.  I don’t know that it really  depicts who I am always.

So… from now on this blog will reflect who I am as a whole.  Good, bad and cursing.  J

There will still be plenty of crafty posts!  But probably a lot of random ones too!

And to finish this post out, here is something I am in love with.

I really needed something to put my post earrings on in the bathroom.

I have tried these little baskets, but they didn’t work out well.  I started to look on the Pinterest for something that could be used.  I wanted something fairly inexpensive and something that could fit on the counter beautifully.

I saw these cake stands and thought, that’s it!

I went to dollar tree and spend a whole $2.00 on a tin platter and a candle stick holder.

Some Gorilla Glue Bond later (and drying overnight which was pure torture), and TAA-DAA!

A Beautiful new earring/perfume holder!  I love it.

PInterest is taking over my life

Like many of you, I am totally obsessed with Pinterest!  I really like trying new things and finding other crafty blogs that are causing a bit of inspiration overload!

I thought I would show some of my favorite pins lately.

I love this. I have been looking for something similar and have found some that are really close, but this is what I have been looking for!  I will be trying this out by the end of the week.

Yes please!  Holy Hell I need these!  I love Nike.  I always have.  Then you go and make them in Cheetah form?  I will be hunting these down in October!

Yes... You read that correctly.  Crepe Cake.  My son saw this and his response was "make that... make that now".  He is obsessed.  He would eat them every day if I let him.  I will certainly be making this in the near future.

I fell in love with this the minute I saw it!  I have already made the base, I just have to finish it up.  I will be posting when I am finished!

What have you been liking on Pinterest?  Anything you want to try?  Anything you're scared to try?Anything that you're obsessing over?

Followers! I have followers!

Wow! It's such an awesome feeling to seeing that I have Followers listed on my sidebar!  Thank you so much for those who are following.  To show my thanks, please use coupon code BLOG18 on my MY SHOP for 18% off any purchase.  Also, for some reason, I picked up two copies of this Instyle magazine.  I must be traveling too much if I am buying duplicate magazines!

The first order placed for over ten dollars on my shop, will have this shipped free with purchase!

As mentioned above, I have been traveling a lot.  This week is Albany Georgia.  It's beautiful here, but man is it humid! This Colorado girl is used to dry air not Humid!

With all of this traveling, I am really missing my nightly crafting time.  I brought along some crochet (pictured below), which is great, but feels like I can be accomplishing more for sewing.

What type of travel crafts do you do?

Blogging Friends!

Well good morning all!

I had a last minute trip to NYC that kind of threw my whole week off!  I had great intentions of posting this grand post about my one of my favorite bloggers (and real life friend), Kathe with and E!

But, as you can tell by this very short post, that didn't quite work out.  :)

I do encourage you however to go on by her blog for a chance of some amazing prizes including a Large Clutch made by me!

Thanks for stopping by!  I'm back to the rat races (I don't know why I referenced that phrase, I have never really liked it)!

Here is a little glimpse of my NYC visit including finishing up orders, fancy desserts, police on mopeds and a pic of me soooo bored on the Amtrak to New Jersey from NYC.

Good luck to all that enter!

Yard Sales and Business Cards...

Well,   Why didn't anyone tell me that Yard Sales are so much work?

My son, husband and I hauled our stuff over to a friends house because he has much better traffic than we do.  That in itself was a chore, but good thing I have a hard working hubby that got most of it done for me while I was at work.

We made a decent amount of money (that I like) and got rid of quite a bit of junk (which my husband likes).  :)

We plan on doing another one on Labor Day Weekend if anyone is in the Denver area!

Tons of books and clothes were sold, but one thing that I found crazy, was the amount of purses that sold.  At one point there was a line that wanted to view and buy handbags.

My husband really wanted to set up a table with all of my hand made items on it.  I didn't want to deal with people trying to talk me down on price since I do have a SHOP that I sell my items on.  When mentioning that I make my own bags to some of the thrifty buyers, they were very interested, so I might give it a shot on our next Yard Sale adventure.  One regret I have though is that I am all out of business cards!  This put a bee in my bonnet to get it done right away!  This is the design that I decided on.

I can't wait for them to arrive!

Until then... Off to smell the roses!!

Holy Headband...

I, of course like any other girl now a days, love headbands!  One thing I can never get to fit me correctly is a Bandana Type of headband.  I have mentioned before how big of a head I have.  If i find one that will wrap around, it surly won't tie.

So, being the sewer that I am, I decided to make one and thought I would offer a tutorial so you can make one too!

Now, I have never done a tutorial before so if there are any questions please let me know.  This is super easy to make.  I think it took me 20 minutes and I am a sloooow sewer.

Supplies needed:

  •      2 strips of fabric.  Long enough to wrap around your head and tie.  I measured and it looks like I needed a 40" strip (yikes).  I made my strips 4" wide.
    • 2 strips 4"x40"
  • Matching thread
  • Pins
  • Iron

1.  Cut the two strips of fabric to long enough to go around your head and whatever width you would like.  Again, mine was 4"x 40".

2.  Once you have your two strips iron them flat.

3.  Now place your two strips wrong sides together and fold in half length wise.  You will cut a point on each end.

4.  Pin your fabric together and sew all the way around except for about an inch that you will use to turn.

5.  Using the small space that wasn't sewn on, turn your fabric and press.

6.  Topstitch around the entire headband.  I used a number 4 long stitch.

7.  Tie around your head and you're done!!  Make one in every color!

And...  I'm thinking of listing some of these on my Etsy Shop, so if you don't want to make some yourself please let me know.
